        Online braille platform

CHINA will launch an online braille platform with a translation function to make it easier for the visually impaired to read what they want, authorities said Thursday.

The Braille Online Platform of China, developed by a team led by Su Wei at Lanzhou University in northwest China’s Gansu Province, will be officially put into use March 22.

With the platform, the user can upload a Chinese or English book or text and get it translated into a braille version, which can be read on a braille display or printed out. An audio version can also be produced.

        Ancient coffin

A RARE, well-preserved lacquer coffin dating back to the Yuan Dynasty (1206-1368) has been unearthed in East China’s Jiangsu Province, local authorities said Thursday.

Changzhou Museum said a tomb group was recently found at a construction site in Tangling Village in the city of Changzhou, where a coffin, looking like a freshly painted one, was unearthed.

        Anti-cancer drugs

CHINA is considering adding more anti-cancer drugs to its list of medicines eligible for medical insurance reimbursement, in an effort to reduce the burden on patients.

Apart from cancer drugs, medicines for rare diseases, chronic illness, children and first-aid treatment are among the options for a lengthened reimbursement list, the National Healthcare Security Administration (NHSA) said in a document aimed at expanding medical insurance coverage.
